Peter McPherson is Global Head of Engineering for Bulk Automation Technology at Metso, leading the development and delivery of advanced automation solutions for bulk material handling operations. A university-qualified Electrical Engineer with over 20 years of industry experience, Peter is also a TÜV-certified Functional Safety Engineer and Chartered professional. Peter has played a key role in delivering automation solutions across some of the world’s largest mining and export terminal operations, with hands-on experience designing, developing, and commissioning control systems for more than 30 mobile machines and associated infrastructure. Peter’s expertise spans control systems, digital transformation, and the integration of intelligent technologies to improve safety, efficiency, and productivity. Prior to Metso, Peter was Director of Engineering and a major shareholder at MRA Automation and Axo33, where Peter led engineering, automation, and software teams while contributing to the commercialisation of advanced automation products. Peter is passionate about driving innovation in bulk materials handling and continues to work closely with customers and industry partners to deliver practical, scalable automation solutions.
